Evolution Martial Arts at the 2025 English Championships

On 1st and 2nd March 2025, Evolution Martial Arts travelled to Guildford for the 2025 English Championships, taking a strong team of 30 students from yellow belt through to black belt.

It was a huge weekend of competition, with Evolution athletes stepping onto the mats across patterns, sparring and power and competing against some of the best martial artists from across England.

Our team fought hard, supported one another and showed the determination and competitive spirit that Evolution is known for.

30 Students. 37 Medals.

The results were outstanding.

Across the weekend, our 30 competitors brought home:

🏆 17 Gold Medals
🥈 8 Silver Medals
🥉 12 Bronze Medals

That's 37 medals from 30 students, averaging 2.83 medals per competitor - more than a silver medal per student.

For a team competing across a wide range of ages, grades and categories, this was an incredible overall performance and a fantastic reflection of the work our students put into their training.

Standout Performances

There were some particularly impressive individual performances throughout the weekend.

A special mention goes to Lena Koper, who produced an outstanding performance in the Under 14 Colour Belt divisions.

Lena came away with 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal, an achievement that saw her named Under 14 Colour Belt Overall Competitor.

Another fantastic performance came from Josh Scovell, who won 2 gold medals and was crowned 14–17 Colour Belt Overall Competitor.

Both achievements demonstrate the consistency required to perform across multiple events and maintain a high standard throughout a busy competition weekend.

Double Gold and Big Categories

Lena and Josh were not the only Evolution students to have an exceptional weekend.

Multiple members of the team achieved double-gold performances, winning more than one event and demonstrating their ability across different disciplines.

Our students also battled their way into the medals in some of the largest and most competitive categories of the championships.

Getting onto the podium in a large division is an achievement in itself. To then progress through multiple rounds and fight for gold requires composure, determination and the ability to perform under pressure.

More Than the Medals

While the medal tally was something to be incredibly proud of, the weekend was about much more than results.

Taking 30 Evolution students to a major national competition creates an incredible team environment.

Students supported and encouraged each other throughout the weekend, celebrating every win and helping teammates through the tougher moments.

For many of our students, competitions are an opportunity to challenge themselves, gain experience and learn what it feels like to perform under pressure.

Whether they came home with gold, silver, bronze or simply gained valuable competition experience, every student contributed to a fantastic Evolution team performance.

A Huge Congratulations

We couldn't be more proud of the 30 Evolution Martial Arts competitors who represented the club at the 2025 English Championships.

With 37 medals, 17 golds, 8 silvers and 12 bronzes, alongside two Overall Competitor titles and multiple double-gold performances, it was an outstanding weekend for Evolution.

The results are a reflection of the dedication our students show in training every week - and we're already looking forward to seeing what this team can achieve next.
