Junior Kickboxing Taunton FAQs

FAQ

What age can my child start Kickboxing?

Our Junior Kickboxing classes in Taunton are for children and teenagers aged 7–15. Training is structured to allow students to develop their skills progressively, with coaching appropriate to their age, ability and experience.

Does my child need previous experience?

No. No previous martial arts or Kickboxing experience is required. We teach beginners from the fundamentals and gradually introduce new techniques and challenges as their confidence and ability develop.

Is Junior Kickboxing suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Our Junior Kickboxing programme is designed to welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced students. Children can learn at their own pace while receiving guidance and encouragement from our instructors.

Is sparring compulsory?

No. Children aren't expected to spar before they are ready. Sparring should be introduced progressively, with appropriate supervision, control and protective equipment; youth kickboxing organisations also use modified/light-contact rules for younger competitors

At Evolution, the priority is helping students first develop good technique, control and confidence.

What should my child wear?

For their first class, comfortable sports clothing such as a T-shirt and jogging bottoms or shorts is ideal. Clothing should allow your child to move freely and shouldn't have anything sharp, such as exposed zips, that could cause problems during partner training.

If your child decides to join, we'll explain the appropriate Evolution uniform and equipment they will need.

Does my child need boxing gloves?

Your child doesn't need to purchase boxing gloves before their first trial class. As they begin regular training, boxing gloves and other appropriate protective equipment will become part of their Kickboxing equipment.

We'll advise you on exactly what is required so there's no need to buy equipment before your child starts.

How does belt progression work?

Evolution Junior Kickboxing follows a structured belt system that gives children clear goals to work towards. Students develop their Kickboxing techniques, combinations, fitness and understanding as they progress through the grades. Belts provide an important long-term goal, while each stage gives children an opportunity to recognise how much their skills have improved.

Can my child try a class before joining?

Yes. Your child can try a Junior Kickboxing class at Evolution Martial Arts Taunton before joining. It's the best way for them to meet the instructors, experience the class and see whether Kickboxing is something they enjoy. Complete beginners are welcome.

How much are Junior Kickboxing classes?

Evolution offers a range of monthly tuition plans, with memberships starting from £49.99 per month. Discounts are also available for families, NHS staff, military personnel and emergency service workers. Our team can help you choose the tuition option that best suits how often your child would like to train.
